TRYOUT APPLICATION
2010 Clarification by age group:
1990's (Eligible for Pro and College Division only)-If you
do not receive invitation by May 15, we suggest you tryout and are
eligible for the Pro Division. Like last year players may still be
added by invitation if our scouts see you play during summer tournament
and festivals but we strongly suggest that you send in your tryout

we will sell-out tryouts and will turn players away. Also like last

In 2002, the Junior Bruins, in conjunction with several
scouts (who coached the tournament teams) of various NHL teams, held
a small tournament in the Boston area over the course of one weekend
in August. The purpose was to include the best concepts of all tournaments
we have been involved with or observed along with the top players
from the New England area. Our hope was to provide the best venue
for the top players to showcase their talents in front of the entire
college and NHL community. It was a smashing success. In the first
year, we attracted the top talent (rosters) on the East Coast along
with the top scouts in the area.
The Evaluation process is a long and time consuming one. It starts
in early fall and goes until the end of the EJHL, Prep and State Championships.
The final selections are made Beantown Classic Staff. After reviewing
the rosters, it was the assessment of the Junior Bruins that most
of the top talent was in attendance but there were some top players
that got were overlooked and not invited. Maybe a player was sick
or injured when a Beantown scout came to watch his team play. Maybe
the line was not clicking that day or the team a player was playing
on was just overpowered by it's opponent and an individual talent
was hidden. There are so many reasons why a skilled player might be
overlooked. So it is the natural progression to want to turn over
every stone to provide every worthy player the opportunity to get
in front of the Beantown Classic selection staff.
We have added four tryout weekends this year, one in Burlington, VT, one in Wayne, NJ
one in Atlanta, GA and
the other at the home of the Beantown Classic at the New England Sports Center in
Marlborough, Mass. The tournament invitation process is an ongoing process
that invites a number of players in March and as various summer events
happen (Mass Select Festival, USA select Festivals, Prospects, Eastern Spring Junior Showcase, Hub Cup and the Eastern Summer Junior Showcase), more invitations will be
sent out based on players performance. This season, with the new tryout
opportunities, there will be spots left open for tryout participants
for both Pro and Future's divisions in the Beantown Classic. For more information on
the divisions please go to the Divisions Page.
Tryout teams will consist of 10-11 forwards, 6-7 Defensemen and 3 goalies.
The tryout format varies at each location and is dependent on the number of tryout teams per location. The format at each location will be for participants to play in games. The variance will be in number of games played.
If you have not been selected by invitation and would like to get
a chance to play in this one of a kind tournament, please print out
a tryout application and send it in ASAP. There are a limited number
of tryout teams and the spots will fill quickly as we have been inundated
with e-mails and phone calls inquiring about tryouts.
If you have additional specific questions about the tryouts,
please call Peter Masters at 781-862-4033.
